DESIGNER TEE SHIRT

The designer Tee-shirt is proving to become an attitude you don't allow to wear-off.

The Tee-Shirt is specially designed by our own artist batchmate Mr. Dipankar for this ocassion. Due to his pre-commitments he isn't able to fly down from USA but has shared the design concept adding to OUR BEING PROUD BATCH-1980 BITSians:

The FRONT : is a metaphor on the state we were in, in year 1980.
The numerals 1980 are actually made-up of "many words" that encapsulate our teenage lives at BITS. Initially, thought of making a drawing of our status in 1980, however, decided to be more subtle. The use of word 1980 is as a metaphor and as a container of our thoughts, desires, views etc., and even a tongue in cheek humor.
The image below 1980 is of all of us coming from various walks of life and various parts of the country (symbolized by different colors) through the desert of Rajasthan to BITS. The metaphor is literally used hence all these footsteps through the undulating sand dunes. You don't see the dunes but you do see the undulation of the steps. The footsteps are also deliberately graphic in construction. The sketch of "towering" over clock-tower is very strong as a graphic.  

 

The BACK: is a metaphor of our current lives
It also has the coming together of all the friends to one spot - the graphic multicolor hands touching and snaking towards a circle are very much like a ritualistic tribal graphic. The centre where all the hands meet could have the BITS Sanskrit motto or could leave it blank - representing space of unlimited possibilities and opportunities ahead.
The "2011" (like the front) is made of our current lives, again trying to keep a sense of tongue-in-cheek humor about people in their 40s (hopefully).
The words "BITS, PILANI Reunion" is a stand in for writing about this occasion.
